What you'll need...

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 small onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 bay leaves (optional)
  • As needed olive oil
  • 2 cups water
  • A dash of salt

How to make...

  1. Mince the onion and garlic.
  2. Heat a dash of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced onion, garlic, and bay leaves. Sauté until the onion starts to become translucent.
  3. When the onion turns translucent, add the rice to the pan and stir to mix with the onions and garlic.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of water and add a dash of salt. Stir to combine.
  5. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  6. Once simmering, reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for 22 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  7. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for a few minutes before serving.
